Assisting Residents of Rembang Affected by Extreme Drought Disaster, Semen Gresik Collaborates with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD)
Rembang, September 15th, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik collaborates with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Rembang Regency to distribute 400 thousand liters of clean water to several areas affected by extreme drought disaster in Rembang Regency.
Dharma Sunyata, Senior Manager of Communication & CSR at PT Semen Gresik, stated that clean water assistance was delivered to 14 villages in 9 districts across Rembang Regency. "The distribution of clean water took place over 7 days and was carried out using 80 tanker trucks provided by BPBD Rembang to various areas affected by the extreme drought," he explained.
He mentioned that the company once again collaborated with BPBD Rembang to identify which areas or villages were in need of clean water assistance to ensure it reached the right recipients. "Our hope is that this can alleviate the burden of villagers' need for clean water during this dry season, especially those in the vicinity of the company," he expressed.
Dharma emphasized that the distribution of 400 thousand liters of clean water in several areas in Rembang Regency is part of the company's commitment and falls under Semen Gresik's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
Meanwhile, Sulastri, the Village Head of Jukung in the Bulu District, expressed joy and gratitude for the clean water assistance provided by PT Semen Gresik and BPBD Rembang in their area. "Hopefully, it can benefit the needs of our village residents, allowing them to survive this dry season," she concluded.
